Google Listen is a free program that plays virtually any popular Podcast on the internet. Search through thousands of uploaded sound files to get the latest news and information. The Moron Test will challenge the wits of you and your friends. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully. There are two version available a free version which is limited to only one test and a paid version that has many more levels. Want to know that song playing on the radio? Or have a tune you can hum but don’t know the words to? SoundHound will help you out. Just play, hum, or sing almost any song to get an exact search. In this week of the Android Application Weekly we review 5 great applications in 30 seconds each. The first application is called Coin Flip Full Free and it is a simple coin toss to help decide between two ideas, opinions, or options. Since most people these days do not carry around change, Coin Flip makes it convenient to have a coin on hand at all times. The program is free on the Android Market. The second program is ConvertPad and is capable of converting practically any unit to any other unit. There are more formulas and conversions than I knew existed. So until the US and other countries standardize every unit this program is invaluable. This application is free on the Android Market. The third application is Instant Heart Rate and it uses the build in camera of your Android device to calculate your heart rate. It works the same way as a pulse oximeter at your doctors office. It calculates the changes in color between oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood. Each color change then registers as a pulse. Instant Heart Rate works best with good lighting and having a build in camera flash is very useful. You can even use this as an unrooted flash light. The application is free on the Android Market. This program is very precise and free on the Android Market. The third application is Urbanspoon, if you like to eat out but can never decide what to try just shake your Android device and Urbanspoon will help you find something tasty. This program also has the ability to lock on certain prices, food styles, and cities. This program is free on the Android Market. The fourth application is Gmote and it allows you to remotely control your computer via a WiFi connection by downloading the free Gmote server program. Use Gmote as a trackpad just like you would on a laptop or as a remote control in Media Player. The controls are customizable to use the touch screen or accelerometer. There are two version on the Android Market a lite version and the full version for $4.99, check to make sure your Android device is capable of running the lite version before purchasing the full version. The third application is Ringdroid, a free ringtone maker that allows you to select any portion of a song file to be saved as a ringtone. The fourth application is Shopper by Google. The free program is capable of searching for nearly any product by taking a picture of it, speaking, or typing your search. Compare local store’s prices or shop online. The fifth application is TuneIn, a free internet radio program that has hundreds of stations. Search for a particular song, genera, or select from the radio categories. The second program is FREEdi Downloader which allows you to download any video file from YouTube and save it as a video, mp3, or aac. The program is free and supported by adware. So now you can take your favorite YouTube videos with you anywhere, even outside your coverage area. The third application is gStings, a tuning program that is very accurate. Have an instrument that needs tuning just play the note to hear the tone and match the pitch to tune your instrument there is even an auto tune feature that will do through the scales by each octave.
