1X1 desk lamp represents the art of simplicity. Designed by Victor Vetterlein, this lamp is composed of a factory waste wood stick, a bendable aluminum rod with a neoprene cover, and a low voltage LED lighting strip. We admire how Victor used minimalistic approach for this desk lamp yet still offered an elegant style.

The colored neoprene base comes in the pre-bent “support” ribbon shape, but user is free to form the base into his/her own configurations, giving the freedom to personalize the lamp. Through 1×1 desk lamp design, Vetterlein offers the consumer the opportunity to be co-creator. He says “one by one, we can change the world”.

An industrial designer Min Su Kim has come up with a brilliant concept – TWILIGHT. If you observe its shape, it appears to be changing. Yes, it doesn’t feature a fixed shape, but changes its form to create aesthetic illumination. TWILIGHT is more streamlined and is comprised of 23 flat pieces. Each piece rotates at different angles and builds an innovative shape, when a hand is wavered in front of it. Soon after the transformation, TWILIGHT emits light via the open cracks, thereby providing illumination to your personal space.

Nowadays, more and more people are inclined towards using home appliances that consume less space and serves its due purpose as well. The use of microwave oven is highly appreciated until date, except for that fact that it takes a lot of space. To cater such needs, designers of Delicious Wave have come up with a new concept called, the babsang bo, a traditional Korean cloth that functions as a microwave and a lamp as well. The designers were enthused by a customary aspect of Korean society – the way mothers would prepare breakfast and cover those dishes with a babsang bo to keep the dishes warm for their children. The Delicious Wave doubles as a lantern, and can be pulled down to cover and heat the food. Designers chose the rounded shape over the traditional square shape for this microwave primarily because the round shape can readily lend a feeling of comfort.

Sprig lamp design was inspired by the fresh growth of plants. Get one for a pendant light, get multiple and combine them, you’ll get a chandelier. Combining this lamp is possible thanks to its accessory package that contains threaded sleeves, a clip-on electrical cord, plug, and screw-in outlet. Sprig is made of recycled plastic, the lighting source is a standard compact fluorescent lamp (CFL).

In big cities, you can see a lot of visual clutter that can cause confusion and disorientation for drivers and pedestrians such as temporary signs, vehicle signals, posters, electronic signs, and many more. In order to reduce visual clutter, Mobius Strip Lamp was designed. The name itself came from Mobius Strip, it was used as a metaphor for the circulation of human in the city. Mobius Strip Lamp integrates vehicle signals, pedestrian signals, and a street lamp in one single installation.

This ingenious design displays the vehicle signals on the uppermost horizontal display panel along with the remaining time. The pedestrian signals are displayed on the vertical panel, also with the remaining time. The street lamp provides great visibility for the drivers and pedestrians while crossing the street. Hopefully we can enjoy environment with less visual clutter in the future.
