Panasonic posts firmware update for Lumix DMC-G2

Panasonic has posted a firmware update for its Lumix DMC-G2 Micro Four Thirds camera. Version 1.11 adds a function allowing the recording and playback of 3D images when used with the company’s H-FT012 3D lens. it also allows the use of AE lock with the touch-shutter function. The latest version is available for immediate download from the company’s website.

Panasonic is set to extend its Lumix digital camera brand to include mobile phones. A teaser campaign on the company’s Japanese site indicates that the first Lumix-branded phone will be announced at CEATC electronics trade show in Tokyo on October 5. Its processor has been branded as Mobile VenusEngine and it will offer microSD/SDHC slots.

Just posted! Our preview samples gallery from the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100. We have just received a production sample of the FZ100 and put together a gallery of sample shots to give you an impression of the image quality from this new superzoom. The gallery includes a mix of shots using various ISOs and apertures, shot under a variety of lighting conditions. We have also shot our standard studio comparison scene and added them to our comparison tool so it can be easily compared to its competitors.

Panasonic has announced the Lumix DMC-TS10 rugged compact camera (known as the FT10 in Europe). A simpler version of the DMC-TS2, it sports a 35-140mm equivalent 4x optical zoom lens, and is certified waterproof at depths of up to 3 meters /10 ft and shockproof for drops of up to 1.5 meters /5 ft (as opposed to 10 meters and 2 meters repectively for the FT2). The rest of the features remain the same, including a 14.1MP CCD sensor and a 2.7″ LCD. It will be available from mid-Septemeber for a suggested retail price of $249.95.

Panasonic has announced the Lumix DMC-FX700 touch-screen digital compact, featuring a stabilized wide angle 5x zoom lens (24-120mm) with a semi-fast F2.2-5.9 maximum aperture range. The camera reduces buttons to a minimum, instead depending on its touch-sensitive 3.0" screen. It also offers full 1080i AVCHD video and 10 fps full resolution burst shooting. Other features include P/A/S/M shooting modes and the latest Venus Engine FHD processor.
