The name of the yacht may seem a bit weird but tell me, if our grand grand grand …… grandfather would have started calling our loving planet as kukumarua (can’t think something weirder than that, lol), we would happily be calling it as it was started, right? However, the panel of top 50 optimistic people over the world (or kukumarua?!) may find some similarities with the name such as, this Flaming Ice yacht can keep people inside ice cool even under the burning sun by offering wide open space both inside and out. The dynamic ability to slide-away the single glass surface makes enough room for fresh air to come inside. This appealing, elegant and functional yacht design guarantees a safe and superb vacation by paying attention on luxury and offering versatile opportunities for enjoyment to the guests. The stern area looks like a dinette that is directly connected by a glass partition to the expandable platform, making a soothing terrace for the boarders to enjoy the beauty of the sea.

If you have an old mobile phone that you care so much about and you chose not to throw it away, but to keep it as it is, a designer from Ireland, Sadhbh Doherty has found a solution to your problem. He created Arcque. An ingenious way to dispose of used mobile phones. The main idea was to find a solution to encourage the return of used mobile phones to manufacturers. This small bead, is what you receive back from the manufacturers, and it stores the digital memories the phone held. It houses the personal messages, pictures and music the phone once stored. We carry our mobile phones everywhere, we use them to communicate with friends and family, listen to music, watch movies and pictures, and sometimes even surf the Internet. Once the phone has reached the end of its life, the files stored are lost along with it. Arcque returns these digital memories to their owner, rather than using monetary gain. The bead contains a memory chip, and the Bluetooth chip from the phone. Its activated by a kinetic motor, if you shake the bead it powers up.

Designer : Sadhbh Doherty

When enough power has been generated, the bead emits a wireless signal which can be read by a Bluetooth enabled device. Thus the user can access old phone memories. The outer shell of the bead is made from a plastic derived from pulverized circuit boards, and the detailing around the center piece of the bead is made from some of the copper found inside the phone. This center piece comes in different materials, regarding the period the phone has been kept without being used. For a period of more than two years, the finish is silver and if the period is more than three years, the finish is gold. Arcque is also a fashion accessory. The center piece is hollow, this enables the user to wear it as a shirt button, a ring, as earrings if the owner had two used phones to return or as a necklace. The variety of fashion accessories this ingenious bead can be attached to is endless, is all part of the users imagination. Arcque not only helps the users dispose of their used mobile phones properly, but also gives them the possibility to wear their digital memory in a beautiful and unique way.

Motion Code: Blue is an industrial design studio which emphasis on yacht design. Now they have extended their areas of operation to another design discipline: they offer architectural concepts and their development until the implementation planning. The Taiwan Shipyard is their latest creation. The design has been developed on an existing u-shaped hall and production building for yachts. The task from its customer was to add an office building, green, and recreational spaces as well as a contemporary European architecture inspired showroom. Another part of the briefing was that the building should have landmark-like characteristics. The office building was designed in such a way, that not only it closes the u-shaped halls optically, but also adds a floating appearance to the whole building. The office building has been designed to house VIP areas, meeting rooms, offices for employees and CEOs, terraces, a yoga room and language course facilities. The whole structure is supported by 2 infrastructure cores and columns, this part of the yard is both remarkable and functional.

Underneath this structure, the design team has planned a kitchen area and facilities as well as staff restaurants and a cafeteria. The entrance area that connects the showroom with the VIP-areas is very representative, it offers a remarkable experience due to the information, interaction, and recreation all customers can enjoy. The showroom is the heart of the building complex. It has been designed as a neutral room and has a museum character, in order to attract the interest of the clients on the beautiful vessels.

All customers have the ability to enjoy the yachts with all their senses. The smell, the music, the lightening moods, the multimedia information which is shown on the walls, all the materials and surfaces should create a holistic and unique experience.

The showroom has been designed in order to house three 50 feet yachts. The large window surfaces allow fascinating view of the yachts without unveiling them fully. An adjacent green outdoor area offers space for BBQ, relaxing or just walking around. The small water surfaces and waterfalls connect at different levels as well as different indoor and outdoor areas. The facade, with its ornamental elements acts in reference to the water world and enhances the recognition value of the building.

The luxurious hotel experience is for some of us a once in a life time opportunity, but for the one’s who deal with it everyday of their lives, this could become sort of boring at some point. That’s why, Gabriel Tam, designed an incredible alternative to luxurious escapades, The Peregrinate. This amazing chauffeur driven vehicle enhances and extends the unique hotel experience beyond the realm of traditional architectural structure, taking the intimate and personal experience on the road.

Peregrinate has been tailored for the Fontana Park Hotel, a hotel in the city of Lisbon. The vehicle’s main theme is strong black and white. Peregrinate is about creating a classic modernist design that transgress different landscape and city environment. The core focus of the vehicle is to maximize the overall comfort and experience for the passengers.

Peregrinate marks a departure from the traditional monotonous luxury saloon design. Individuality is the most important differentiator for boutique hotel, they usually have a theme or character, which is relevant to the region that the hotel resides. An intimate atmosphere shouldn’t have a sense of familiarity, and this should be no different for the guest transportation. The vehicle designed by Gabriel has some amazing features that cannot be compared to other vehicles of its type. First of all is the superhydrophobicity Lexan polycarbonate body with its gradient transitional tint DLO, is creating a friendly interior ambiance with added privacy. The rear LED brake lamps are integrated within the Polyurethane gel bumper. This provides a clean wrap around look during daytime. The extra long rear cabin created by extended wheelbase, thus retaining a smaller physical footprint on the tarmac than conventional full size luxury vehicles like the Mercedes S-Class.

The Peregrinate is actually 16% smaller than the Mercedes. Another unique and interesting feature has been added to the way the doors open, for the car to welcome its passengers. The gliding pantograph door system provides greater ease of entry and creates a theatrical grand entry to the interior cabin. The interior amazes its passengers with the sculptural blade inspired design, that can be found in the exterior also.

The feature side blade creates an artificial shoulder line for the all glass DLO, wrapped around to create a visual “white” bone structure that continues into the cabin from the exterior. Furniture inspired flowing seating system, creates a sense of lightness. The purpose of this system is for the seating to be viewed as an collection of art pieces within the vehicle. The transparent OLED display system provides an understated technological communication solution. This design offers the hotel a wide range of opportunity to immerse their guest into the world they have created. The customizable Technogel elastomer seating system, stands for alternate seating arrangement. The rear “B-shaped” center console provides an added dimension to the personalized travel experience.
